Major Companies in Los Angeles with Employee Giving Programs
AT&T is the largest provider of mobile and fixed telephone systems in the United States. As of 2016, it is the seventh-largest company in the U.S. by total revenue.
While AT&T doesn’t offer an official “matching gift program,” the company supports the organizations which employees are passionate about through its Cause Cards program.
Cause Cards are grants from the AT&T Foundation given to eligible charities recommended by employees. All employees that participate in the annual Employee Giving Campaign will be eligible to receive a Cause Card.
Employee pledges will be eligible for a Cause Card on a sliding scale based on a percentage of total giving. These Cause Cards are expected to range from $25 – $250. Once employees make a recommendation for an eligible charity to receive a Cause Card, they are notified of the value of the grant and the deadline by which they need to redeem it.
JPMorgan Chase & Co.
JPMorgan Chase & Co. is the largest bank in the United States based on assets ($2 trillion, according to Forbes magazine).
JPMorgan offers not only a robust matching gift program on a monetary basis (donations from $1 to $1,000) but also a very comprehensive volunteer grant program that includes both individual and group volunteers.
Individual Volunteer Grants apply to individuals who volunteer on a regular basis and are eligible to request volunteer grants. Team Volunteer Grants apply to teams of three or more employees or retirees who volunteer together and are eligible for team volunteer grants based on the combined volunteer hours.
Through these volunteer programs, nonprofits can raise up to an extra $3,000 in grants.
The Capital Group Companies
Capital Group Companies is a financial investment services company with assets upward of $1 trillion. With about 7,000 employees worldwide, TCGC offers a very generous matching gift program, providing a 2:1 match on donations anywhere from $25-$5,000. That’s essentially tripling a donation!
TCGC also offers a volunteer grant program that encourages employees to volunteer at least 10 hours with an organization, after which it will provide a grant of $10 per hour for up to 50 hours.
Wells Fargo, which acquired Wachovia, has reported revenue of over $86 billion. Wells Fargo also boasts a massive employee base, at just about 265,000. Wells Fargo matches, dollar-for-dollar, donations to accredited public or private educational institutions and educational foundations, anywhere from $25-$2,000.
Possibly even more impressive, though, is Wells Fargo’s volunteer grants program. It annually awards more than $500,000 in volunteer grants to organizations employees volunteer for in their communities. There isn’t a minimum number of hours required or a specific donation amount awarded, and employees can apply directly through the Wells Fargo Foundation.
