Matching gift process

The ITW Foundation will match up to $5,000 in donations per employee or retiree each year.

ITW provides a 3:1 match, which means the company will contribute up to $15,000.

ITW matches donations to most nonprofits including:

  • Academic Educational Institutions
  • Education
  • Health and human services
  • Arts and humanities organizations
  • Animal Welfare & Wildlife
  • Environmental conservation

All organizations that are coded under a religious classification were subsequently identified as ineligible for the program. Some faith-based organizations including Salvation Army are among the list of organizations that have this specific classification assigned to them by the IRS (or CRA in Canada), and as such do not qualify for the ITW Gift & Volunteer Match program.

Donors should register their matching donation requests electronically at {{forms}}. Retirees should view the instructions here.

Submission Deadline:
Employees can submit a match request and then have the nonprofit verify the donation as late as January 31st of the year following the date of the donation.

ITW provides grants to nonprofits when employees volunteer on a regular basis with the organization.

For every hour an employee volunteers, Illinois Tool Works provides a grant of $10 per hour. ITW provides volunteer grants of up to $1,000 per employee each year (100 hours).
