Our Methodology:

The first step was to update all of our corporate giving information in Q1 of 2012. We then applied the following exclusions:

- At least a $1:$1 match through the company's matching gift program (if offered)
- At least a $10 grant per volunteer hour through the company's volunteer grant program (if offered)
- An annual contribution limit no less than $1,000 per employee
- Greater than 10,000 employees

This left us with a few hundred companies. We then subjectively looked through company programs using the following criteria:

- Breadth of employee giving programs
- Generosity of programs
-
Diversity of eligible nonprofits
- Ease of process
- Eligibility of part-time employees and retirees

Using this process, we arrived at our top five employer giving programs. We then added Soros Fund Management into the list. The company offers the most generous employee giving programs, yet was initially excluded due to only having 300 employees.
